Voyager Academy High School Daily Announcements 9/27:
  • Service Club is going to be having another Penny Wars next week to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.  
  •  An admissions representative from Queens University in Charlotte will be on campus on Monday January 15 during lunch. See Ms. O'Kaine for additional information. 
  •  Ms. Taylor and English 1 would like to thank everyone today for their cooperation and participation in the Stand Up Speak out Assembly today! We encourage everyone to continue to support these classes and their efforts by participating in the Silent Auction, buying a t-shirt, ribbon, or donating. The Silent Auction will be up Friday for fall conference day if you wold like to come by with a parent. Ms. Taylor will reach out to winning bids this weekend and payment will be due Monday when you come to pick up your item.  
  •  Come out and support the VAHS Bass Assassins this Saturday, Sept. 29th at Lake Gaston as they comepete in their first bass tournament of the season. You can see them weigh in their fish at 2:30 PM at Summit Landing boat ramp. If you see Brycen Hendriks, Kyle Dillon, Avery Doughty, Cade Dunn, and Tyler McLamb today wish them luck!

Voyager Acadamey High School Daily Announcments September 26: 


  • This is for all student who park in the student parking lot. Repeat-this is for all students who park in the student parking lot. On Friday October 26, your vehicle must be out of the parking lot by 4:15. If you are staying after school for any activity, you may go ahead and move your vehicle to the front lot. This is because food trucks and vendors will be rolling in at that time for hte PTO Fall Festival. We hope you will come!
  • Ms. Taylor's English 1 class has designed and will be selling anti-bullying t-shirts as part of their Stand Up Speak Out Campaign. We are selling t-shirts to help raise money for Stand Up Speak Out NC, an organization created to support victims of bullying, teenage domestic violence, and sexual harrasmet. Flyers have been posted around school if you would like to see the design. Please see Ms. Taylor if you would like to purhcase a t-shirt.

    • See You At The Pole is this Wednesday, Sep. 26, from 8 to 8:30 AM. Come meet at the flagpole to pray for our country, our state, and our school! All are welcome!
    • Ms. Taylor's English 1 class has designed and will be selling anti-bullying t-shirts as part of their Stand Up Speak Out Campaign. We are selling t-shirts to help raise money for Stand Up Speak Out NC, an organization created to support victims of bullying, teenage domestic violence, and sexual harrasmet. Flyers have been posted around school if you would like to see the design. Please see Ms. Taylor if you would like to purhcase a t-shirt. 
    • The Fellowship of Christian Athletes will be meeting tomorrow morning at 7:30 in D124. Please join us for food, fun, and fellowship! You do not have to be a Christian or an athlete to attend.

    • The VAHS volleyball teams will be hosting their annual "Pink" game on Monday, October 1st. JV plays at 5:00 and Varsity starts immediately afterward. Come out and support the teams and raise awareness for breast cancer!
    • Did you know Ms. Taylor's English One classes are hosting a silent auction to raise money for Stand Up Speak Out? It will be held this Wednesday at lunch in Ms. Taylor's room. If you have something you want to put in the silent auction, go to Ms. Taylor's room and leave the item you want to donate with her. We welcome everyone to come by on Wednesday to check out the items and place your bids.

      • Dr. Bankhead would like to give a shout out to the following of his students who have consistently, throughout the first half of this semester, demonstrated our core values: Victor Stonebreaker (for his confidence in the sense of perserverence, always trying to understand and never giving up), Jean-Carlos Castillo (for his curiosity, made evident by his perparing himself well for each class and always being able to participate effectively), Francesca Cedeno (for her empathy, shown through her appreciation of the achievements of her peers and her well wishes for people in general), Allison Gloade (for her reflection, as demonstrated by her resilience in the face of difficulties, her reflective skills always giving her the will to move forwards and continue growing despite setbacks), and Dallas Knight (for her integrity, in the sense that she is aware of what is expected of her and attempts to fill those expectations daily.)

    • Voyager Bass Assasins and WeWilmRebuild are partering to help with Hurricane Florence Relief in Wilmington, NC. We will be placing boxes at each school where donations can be placed. While WeWilmRebuild is going to focus their effors on the  human side, Bass Assasins will focus their efforts of the four legged victims. All donations will be collected throughout the month of September and the Voyager Bass Assassins will deliver them to Nicholas and his crew for distribution. Thank you for your support!
      • Did you know that North Carolina is the 10th hungriest state in the nation? Almost 20% of our children face hunger on a regular basis. 18% of our senior citizens struggle with hunger. Backpack Buddies provides local school children from food-insecure homes with healthy weekend meals during the school year. Starting September 17th, the OCS class will have boxes around the school for students to donate food items. We will also collect donated food items during Advisory on Mondays for the next four weeks. The Advisory that collects the most food to donate will receive a Pizza  Lunch to thank them for donating. Please contact Amanda Shaw with any questions. Thank you for your help with this worthy cause!

There is a donation bin located in the front office. If you would like to join students at the NC Diaper Bank on Saturday, September 29 from 10 am until noon. Please sign up by September 26th in the front office. This is also a great opportunity to gain service hours!

      Voyager Academy High School Daily Announcements 9/12

      • Did you know that North Carolina is the 10th hungriest state in the nation? Almost 20% of our children face hunger on a regular basis. 18% of our senior citizens struggle with hunger. The OCS class at Voyager Academy High School volunteers weekly with the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle in their program called "Backpack Buddies". Backpack Buddies provides local school children from food-insecure homes with healthy weekend meals during the school year. The children recieve a bag on Friday of every week that includes six balanced meals and two healthy snacks. We are having a Food Drive in order to support the efforts of the Food Bank. Starting September 17, the OCS class will have boxes around the school for students to donate canned food items. We will also collect donated food items during Advisory on Mondays for the next 4 weeks. The Advisory that colleccts the most food to donate will recieve a pizza lunch to thank them for donating. The Food Bank requests canned protein items (canned tuna, Spaghetti O's, soups, beans, etc), canned vegtables, canned fruits in light juice, juice boxes, and snack items like granola bars and peanut butter crackers.       • The Toyoma Committee of Sister Cities of Durham is pleased to announce a high school delegation trip to Toyoma, Japan during the summer of 2019. Students will be serving as junior ambassadors. During part of the visit, students will be staying with host families assosiated with the Toyoma College of Foreign Languages.       • The Fellowship of Christian Athletes: The FCA will be meeting tomorrow morning at 7:30 in D124. Please join us for food, fun, and fellowship! You do not have to be an athlete or a Christian to attend.

        • Anyone interested in joining art club this year needs to see Mrs. Clark-Stover by Tuesday, September 11. Art Club will be holding it's first meeting off campus at the Nasher Museum on Thursday, September 13 and you must be registered for the event if you want to participate. Again, please stop by and see Mrs. Clark-Stover before school, during lunch or after school by Tuesday if you are interested.
        • Last year we did the refugee drive and the winning grade was the sophmores (now Juniors). We are going to serve pancakes for breakfast for the Juniors. It will be in the commons at  8:15 am to 8:50 am on Tuesday the 11th of September. Sorry for the late prize!
        • There will be a Red Cross Blood drive on September 11, 2018 in the Commons. Sign up at redcross.org with code "Voyager". Contact Jordan King for more information.
        • Congratulations to the men's soccer team for making Voyager history on Friday night. They beat Franklin Academy for the first time in the history of the schooL! Score was 6-3. Spencer Chwalik scored 4 goals. Noah Wells scored 2 goals. Congratulations to the team and Coach Robinson for this epic win!

          September 7: Voyager Academy High School Daily Announcements 


          • The Cross Country team has their first invitational meet tonight. Both the girls and boys teams will be competing in the Friday Night Lights race in Kernersville. We wish them luck in the start of their season? 
          • Devan Desai was captain of Duke Football team last weekend! Yes, at the Duke football game against Army last Saturday, Devan was recognized by Duke University for his volunteer service to the Durham community. He was named an Honorary Captain for the football team and was invited  down to the field for the opening Coin Toss. Devvan was nominated for this recognition by the Triangle Nonprofit Volunteer and Leadership Center, and his nomination was selected by Duke University's President, Dr. Vincent Prince. Look for pictures and a video of this event in next week's newsletter.

VAHS would like to stand up to bullying, and you can too. This month, help us celebrate "Start with Hello" month here at Voyager. Make sure to take the time to talk to someone new, someone eating alone, or someone that just looks they could use an encouraging word. You never know how much a simple "hello" can change someone's day. Also, make sure to stop by the C hall and leave an inspirational "hello" greeting on the banner.

          • Attention freshmen! Please wear your freshmen orientation t-shirts to school on Monday. Any student who has not received a t-shirt will be provided with one. On Monday during Advisory, all freshmen will meet in the gym for a freshman class photo before breaking into smaller groups to start our Freshmen Anchor Program.
