Daily Announcements 5/2




  • Please join Mrs. Huntington and the VAHS Bass Assassins in congratulating the team of Brycen Hendriks and Kyle Dillon. There ticket was punched and they will be traveling to beautiful Pickwick Alabama to represent Voyager and the Bass Assassins at the High School Fishing World Championship. They are one of only 3 teams that earned the opportunity to represent North Carolina.
  • Any girls interested in playing Volleyball next year please see Ms. Taylor to get the link for the interest Survey. Ms. Taylor needs Survey results in order to plan for summer and pre-season.
  • Want to spend fall break in the big apple? Mrs. Paradis will be doing a trip to New York City fall break 2019. The trip will include seeing 3 Broadway shows, sight-seeing, museums, shopping, and great food! See Mrs. Paradis in D124 for more information.

Voyager Academy Daily Announcements April 25:

  • Dance Performance Night is Friday, April 26th at 7pm in the gym. Tickets will be $5 and will be sold at the door. Faculty will receive one free ticket with their school ID. This will be the last Dance Performance Night ever so come out for an incredible night of dance and a celebration of this semester!!
  • We're having a soccer fundraiser for our state champions. Come by room C113 during lunch on Friday for pizza, drinks, and ice cream
  • Attention all Voyager Staff and Students... Today the Women's Soccer Team will play their final home game of the 2019 season. The game will be at 4:30pm at Northern High School's soccer field. Please come out and show support for the Lady Vikings. Staff members get into the game for free and students pay $3. We hope to see you there!
  • Dance Performance Night is TOMORROW NIGHT at 7pm in the gym. Tickets will be $5 and will be sold at the door, cash only. Faculty will receive one free ticket with their school ID.   • There is a service club meeting on Monday at 8:15 in the commons. 
  • On Monday during Advisory, the Anchors are leading a dodgeball tournament in the gym. Please check in briefly for attendance then head to the gym to join the fun!
  • AP Pre-registration Session Monday During Advisory: Students who took AP classes during first semester only are to report to the commons Monday during Advisory for a pre-registration session. Those who completed a session during second semester AP classes do not need to attend. Contact Ms. O'Kane if you have any questions.

Voyager Academy High School Daily Announcements April 23: 

  • The Fellowship of Christian Athletes will be meeting tomorrow morning at 7:30 in D124. Please join us for food, fun, and fellowship! You do not have to be a Christian or an athlete to attend. 
  • Attention Seniors Strawbridge photographers will be in the Commons on Weds 4/24 beginning at 9:00 to take photos of students in their caps and gowns. Please bring the Strawbridge Envelope and your cap and gown to wear for the photo (or be prepared to wear a loaner). Guys will need a shirt with a tie, and girls need a top that does not show above the gown.

  • The VAHS Anchor Program is looking for Anchors for the 2019/2020 school year. Anchors will serve as mentors to small groups of freshman. A mentor is a wise and trusted friend and guide. Anchors will offer guidance, support and encouragement aimed at developing the competence and character of the mentees. Our goal is to ease with the transition into high school and to provide ongoing support for our freshmen.   • The American Public Works Association – North Carolina Chapter (APWA-NC) will be awarding $2,000 scholarship(s) to deserving student(s) in North Carolina. This program will assist students in attaining their career aspirations and building a foundation of future public works leaders. The submittal deadline for the internship is April 15th.

  • There is a service club meeting on Monday at 8:15 in the commons. 
  • The Voyager Middle School is giving out their anual leadership scholarship to Voyager seniors. Seniors, please check your email for the application packet.  
  • Last night the Voyager Women's Soccer team dominated the senior night game against Vance Charter, winning 7 to 0! There were goals for Alexa Sewitsky and Marlie Shaw! Sloane Freeman and Ali Hibbard shut down Vance defensively with multiple clearances and dangerous through balls! Ann Njenga made 3 saves against Vance to keep a clean sheet! It couldn't have been done without goals and assists from many underclassmen. Thank you to all the fans who came out in support of our Viking Seniors!
  • Attention, High School Democrats! We will be having a meeting in Mr. Gatlin's room after school this Monday. Anyone who is interested is welcome. Hope to see you all there!

  • Señor Manuel has assigned a project for his Spanish 3 class to see if advertising is relevant or effective in a Spanish speaking business. Aaron Anthony, Bradley Heckman, Zeke Epps, and JC Castillo all want you to go visit Pincho LOCO this week. Pincho Loco is a family run business that sells ice cream, churros, milkshakes and piñatas.

    Voyager Academy High School Daily Announcements March 21: 
    • Did you take AP Language in the Fall? Come to AP Language Exam Review sessions every Wednesday and Friday morning in room A151 starting this Wednesday, March 20th. We will start at 8:15. See you there! 
    •  The track team has their first meet today at Riverside. Running begins at 5. Wish them luck!
      • Voyager will be hosting a driver's ed class during spring break, from April 15-19 at 8:30-2:30 each day. The cost is $375. Please check with the front office for more info.  
    • The Rock Shop is looking for a 16-18 year old high schooler that is interested in a job on Saturdays. You would be doing things like helping customers load their cars and trucks with pine straw, pieces of stone, etc, sweeping the shop, picking up trash and debris in the yard, stacking firewood for $10/hr. If you are interested, please see Ms. Dodson.  
    • Thursday, March 21, is the Spanish spelling bee championship. It will be held 4th period in the gym. Teachers, we hope it's possible to excuse Spanish students from their 4th period classes to attend but understand if it's not. Students, pick your champions, and come back them up. Winners from Dr. Bankhead's classes are Liam Holder, Leigha Hofmann, Claire Fowler, Christian Traylor, Dallas Knight, and Amith Jagannath. Dr. Bankhead is so sure one of these six will win out that he bets Mr. Manuel and Ms. Kalivoda a lunch if a student from one of their classes manages to win. Go team Bankhead!

    • GSA is having a bake sale from February 1-7th to benefit homeless youth. We will be set up outside of Ms. Huntington's room.
    • Are you ready to explore the third largest country in South America? If so, there is a Peru interest meeting on Thursday, February 7 in Mr. Manuel's room. You do not have to be currently enrolled in Spanish to be interested to go on the trip
    • Voyager will be hosting a driver's ed class during spring break, from April 15-19 at 8:30-2:30 each day. The cost is $375. Please check with the front office for more info. 
    • Next Thursday is Valentine's Day! Show your friends and loved ones how much you care with a valentine you buy from the students in Ms. Shaw and Ms. Dowaliby's classes. Come out this Friday to see a sampling of what we will be selling and delivering for Valentine's Day.
    • Come Thursday after school to room A148 for a chance to open up a Free Student Checking Account with Vision Financial Credit Union! Representatives will be here from 4:00-4:45pm. Students under 18 will need to have a parent/guardian be on the account with them, and everyone should bring at least two forms of ID (Driver's License or Student ID, and Social Security Cards preferred). Minimum deposit of $25 to get started. This is a great way to learn about managing your finances, and it's FREE!

    • Senior quotes are now being accepted for the 2019 VAHS yearbook. Forms are located outside Ms. Todd's room, A149. See Ms. Todd if you have any questions. The deadline is Wednesday, Jan 16.

    • Abby Demarest from Duke Summer Session for High School Students will be on campus during lunch on Wednesday Jan. 16 to meet with students and parents who are interested in learning about pre-college programs and summer opportunities.     • The Fellowship of Christian Athletes will be meeting tomorrow morning at 7:30 in D124. Please join us for food, fun, and fellowship! You do not have to be a Christian or an athlete to attend. 
    • The swim team had a successful meet yesterday, wrapping up their regular season. Both the girls' and boys' teams won their relays. Special shoutout to Zoe Vette for winning the 500 freestyle!

    Voyager Academy High School Daily Announcements January 11:

    • Senior quotes are now being accepted for the 2019 VAHS yearbook. Forms are located outside Ms. Todd's room, A149. See Ms. Todd if you have any questions. The deadline is Wednesday, Jan 16.

  • Voyager Men's Lacrosse is looking for a few good men! If you have never played lacrosse, think football without so many pads. We have a great group this year. It doesn't matter whether you are skilled or unskilled, we will teach you. If you are interested please stop by Room D125 and speak with Mr. Mills.
    • Abby Demarest from Duke Summer Session for High School Students will be on campus during lunch on Wednesday Jan. 16 to meet with students and parents who are interested in learning about pre-college programs and summer opportunities.     • There will be an NHS meeting before school on Thursday in Ms. Huntington's room.
    • There is a Science Olympiad meeting in Ms. Honey's room after school on Thursday
