Voyager Academy High School Daily Announcements 9/12
- Did you know that North Carolina is the 10th hungriest state in the nation? Almost 20% of our children face hunger on a regular basis. 18% of our senior citizens struggle with hunger. The OCS class at Voyager Academy High School volunteers weekly with the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle in their program called "Backpack Buddies". Backpack Buddies provides local school children from food-insecure homes with healthy weekend meals during the school year. The children recieve a bag on Friday of every week that includes six balanced meals and two healthy snacks. We are having a Food Drive in order to support the efforts of the Food Bank. Starting September 17, the OCS class will have boxes around the school for students to donate canned food items. We will also collect donated food items during Advisory on Mondays for the next 4 weeks. The Advisory that colleccts the most food to donate will recieve a pizza lunch to thank them for donating. The Food Bank requests canned protein items (canned tuna, Spaghetti O's, soups, beans, etc), canned vegtables, canned fruits in light juice, juice boxes, and snack items like granola bars and peanut butter crackers. Please contact Amanda Shaw at ashaw@voyageracademy.net with any questions. Thank you for your help with this worthy cause!
- An admissions representative from Queens University in Charlotte will be on campus on Monday 1:15 during lunch. See Ms. O'Kaine for additional information.
- Yearbooks for the 2018-2019 school year are now on sale at the lowest price of the year, $55. Go to jostensyearbooks.com by the September 28th to reserve a book at this low price.
- A girl's basketball interest meeting will be held in the Commons at 6PM on Wednesday night. This meeting is for all girls interested in playing basketball AND their parents. Please plan to attend.
